A discount on lounge entry, not lounge access. Each visit saves about £20 a head against the £38.86 average walk-in price. Covering the £240 annual fee on lounge savings alone would take about 12 visits a year.
Barclaycard does not name the network, so we cannot tell you which UK lounges it opens. For reference, Priority Pass covers 43 UK lounges at 19 airports and DragonPass covers a different set.
What Barclaycard actually says
Quoted from the card’s own product page on barclaycard.co.uk, checked 8 October 2026. We quote rather than paraphrase because the difference between “access” and “discounted access” is the whole story on this page.
Access over 1,000 airport lounges worldwide at a discounted rate of £18.50 per lounge pass, per person.
Representative example as published by Barclaycard: 80.1% APR variable, with a purchase rate of 29.9% p.a. variable. Fee: £20 a month, so £240 a year. Figures change — check the issuer’s own page before acting on anything here.
What the benefits list does not tell you
This card does not include lounge access
That is the whole point of this page. Every visit costs £18.50 a head. There is no free visit, no included membership and no allowance that resets. If you came here expecting the card to get you into a lounge the way Amex Platinum does, it does not, and no amount of reading the benefits list will change that.
£18.50 is still a real saving — it is just not free
Against the £38.86 average walk-in price at the UK lounges we have verified, £18.50 saves you about £20 a head per visit. For a family of four on one trip that is roughly £81 — genuinely worth having. It is a discount scheme, and a decent one, described in a benefits list next to things that are free.
Barclaycard does not name the lounge programme
The page says “over 1,000 airport lounges” without saying whose network it is — not Priority Pass, not DragonPass, not LoungeKey. We are not going to guess, because which network it is decides which UK lounges you can actually walk into. Check with Barclaycard before you rely on it at a specific airport.
Before you count on it
Check the lounge, not just the card
Every one of these cards works through a lounge network, and networks drop lounges. The question that actually matters is whether your airport’s lounge is in it on the day you fly — our Priority Pass list and DragonPass list both go lounge by lounge.
Availability is not the same as access
Priority Pass entry is subject to space. At a UK airport at 06:00 the lounge can be full regardless of what your card says, which is why pre-booking entitlements are worth more than they look.
Compare it against just paying
The average walk-in price across the 35 UK Priority Pass lounges we have verified is £38.86, and the cheapest departures lounge is £27. If you fly twice a year, paying at the door is usually cheaper than any annual fee on this site.
Or buy the membership directly
You do not need a credit card to hold Priority Pass — you can buy it outright, and our break-even calculator works out whether that beats paying per visit for the way you actually fly.
Frequently asked
Does Barclaycard Avios Plus include airport lounge access?
No. Barclaycard offers lounge entry at a discounted rate of £18.50 per pass per person. There is no free visit and no included lounge membership.
How much does a lounge cost with Barclaycard Avios Plus?
£18.50 per lounge pass, per person. Against the £38.86 average walk-in price at the UK lounges we have verified, that is a saving of roughly £20 a head.
Which lounge network does Barclaycard Avios Plus use?
Barclaycard’s own page does not say. It refers only to "over 1,000 airport lounges worldwide" without naming Priority Pass, DragonPass or LoungeKey. Confirm with Barclaycard before relying on it at a particular airport.
Is the Avios Plus fee worth it for lounges?
Not on lounges alone. At a £20 saving per visit, the £240 annual fee would take about 12 UK lounge visits to cover. The card is sold on Avios earning rather than lounges, and that is the basis on which it should be judged.
